West Point graduate (1951, third in class), flew 66 Korean War combat missions in F-86 Sabre with 2 confirmed kills. Earned MIT doctorate (1963) on orbital rendezvous techniques - 311-page thesis informing Apollo program. Nickname 'Buzz' from sister mispronouncing 'brother' as 'buzzer.' Last surviving Apollo 11 crew member after Armstrong (2012) and Collins (2021) deaths. Oldest living astronaut following Lovell's 2025 death. Living symbol of Space Race triumph.
